We almost have a house!

Well, not really, but we are so much closer to having a house, since my last post.  A lot has happened since then.  My car was killed by unscrupulous people and I had to get a new one.  Not new new, it’s an 08.  I love it, but we weren’t planning to get a car until after we closed on the house.  Also, my laptop is in the shop.  I’m typing this on my tablet with the virtual keyboard.  Not so easy, I miss my laptop.  OK, that’s all my personal news, now back to the house.  My last post, we had plumbing installed.  Since then they backfilled around the foundation and inside the slab. Last Friday, January 10th, they poured the slab and today, January 14th, they delivered wood. Slab foundation, cement Wood, framing Woo Hoo!  We are so excited.  If it wasn’t for the fact that it’s supposed to snow tomorrow, I almost think they would start the framing.

So, I started this post on 1/21. It’s now 1/25 and nothing more has been done. We’ve had unbelievable weather here. It was -5 yesterday with wind chills of -18 and we’ve had snow, snow, snow. It’s Central Kentucky for Pete’s sake. Mother Nature is angry with me for some reason. She’s laughing that we are crammed into this tiny rental. Hopefully I will have the last laugh. The roof trusses were delivered and added to the already large wood pile. So I’m hoping that before too long, I will be able to show you some walls. If any of you know of a Spring dance (ya know, like the rain dances), please start dancing. I’m tired of Winter.

Until next time…

  1. I’m so excited that your house is coming along, but sorry for the snails pace. I get it. Our daughter had a flood in her house on December 5th and she still isn’t back in it yet. Contractors can be so slow! So annoying. She and her family are moving from place to place to avoid wearing out their welcome. I’m looking forward to the next post on your house! Thanks for sharing.

  2. That must be so frustrating for things not to move as quickly as you hope! I remember being crammed into a rental while we searched for a current house. Living in cramped quarters with stuff in storage is no fun! I hope the weather cooperates soon! Hang in there.

    • Hey Heidi! Thanks for stopping by. You got that right, it is soooo frustrating. We are cramped in this little rental with two big dogs and all my stuff is crammed into the two back bedrooms. My entire craft room, my dining room, everything! I miss my stuff. Mother Nature is continuing to be a meanie, we are supposed to have the coldest day of the year so far, sometime this week. It think it’s going to be the coldest day in like 80 years or something. I hope you come back – once we get moving again.

    • Hey Mindy!
Thanks for stopping by. Seriously, I would pick the worst winter on recent record to build a house. Just my luck. I hope you come back, I got a new post about some recent updates that have happened and a few setbacks.
